Herhaal oproep: 9/4: lawaai bij EGM-architecten & UC 16hoven

Doe mee! Aanstaande donderdag, 9 april: lawaaidemonstratie bij EGM architecten en uitzetcentrum Zestienhoven.
Verzamelen: 11.30 uur achterkant Centraal Station Rotterdam.
We starten de campagne ‘Stop DC16!’
 aankondiging lawaaidemo op PDF formaat om te printen en te verspreiden -
- Start campagne ‘Stop DC16!’
Met deze eerste aangekondigde demonstratie start de campagne ‘Stop DC16!’. Doel van de campagne is om druk uit te oefenen op de bedrijven die deel uitmaken van het consortium DC16. DC16 neemt de bouw en exploitatie van het nieuwe detentiecentrum op Rotterdam Airport voor zijn rekening. Tegelijkertijd willen we bedrijven die overwegen om in de toekomst mee te werken aan de bouw van gevangenissen (bijvoorbeeld nieuwbouw Kamp Zeist en Schiphol Oost) er op wijzen dat daar verzet tegen zal komen: bij hen op de stoep.
- Een nieuwe weg: voorkomen is beter dan genezen
Werkgroep Stop Deportaties (WSD) slaat met de campagne ‘Stop DC16!’ een nieuwe weg in. Veel mensen kennen WSD nog als de groep mensen die steeds de poorten van de bestaande detentiecentra blokkeerde, met als doel de centra het werk moeilijk te maken en de gevangenen te ondersteunen. Maar we willen meer doen dan het werk hinderen aan de poort.
Daarom hebben we de actie verlegd naar het voorkomen van de nieuwbouw. Met de ‘Stop DC16!’ campagne pakken we het probleem bij de wortel aan. We gaan dus de bedrijven van DC16 op hun eigen terrein opzoeken, want: zonder de deelname van deze bedrijven geen cellen!
- Wat is DC16?
DC16 is een consortium (een duurzaam samenwerkingsverband) van een groep bedrijven. De naam DC16 staat voor Detentie Centrum Zestienhoven. De bij DC16 betrokken bedrijven zijn Ballast Nedam, Strukton, EGM architecten, ISS Facility Services, en het ingenieursbureau Smits van Burgst. Het consortium DC16 doet niet alleen het ontwerp en de bouw van nieuwe detentie- en uitzetcentrum Rotterdam Airport, maar zal bovendien de komende 25 jaar de exploitatie (het beheer) van de nieuwe gevangenis voor zijn rekening nemen.
- Wat is zo bijzonder aan DC16: privatisering
Het nieuwe detentiecentrum Rotterdam Airport is de eerste gevangenis in Nederland die door publiek private aanbesteding (PPS) wordt gerealiseerd. Let wel: een gevangenis voor mensen zonder verblijfspapieren, dus uitgeprocedeerde asielzoekers en andere ongedocumenteerden. Net als eerder gebeurde met de introductie van private ‘detentietoezichthouders’ wordt ook ditmaal de privatisering van de hele bouw én exploitatie door private ondernemingen eerst uitgetest op mensen zonder papieren.
- Wat gaan we doen? Allereerst: geweldloze lawaaidemonstraties
Door het regelmatig houden van geweldloze lawaaidemonstraties met spandoeken, protestborden, megafoons, potten, pannen en fluitconcerten bij de kantoren van de verantwoordelijke bedrijven willen we personeel en directie er telkens aan helpen herinneren waar zij mee bezig zijn. Daar kan iedereen aan meedoen.
Samen zullen we er voor zorgen dat de naam van deze bedrijven onlosmakelijk wordt verbonden met het feit dat zij geld verdienen aan het opsluiten van mensen zonder papieren. En dat is nog maar het begin, want de privatisering stopt niet bij de detentiecentra voor 'vreemdelingen'.
Er worden op het moment al drie andere bajessen in privaat beheer voorbereid, ook voor mensen in voorarrest en strafrechtelijke gevangenen. Bouwen maar! Dan moeten we ze wel vullen om de zaak winstgevend te maken voor de betrokken bedrijven, naar 'goed' Amerikaans voorbeeld!
Op naar die bedrijven dus! Maar tegelijk vergeten we natuurlijk de mensen, die het slachtoffer zijn van de op winst beluste corporaties, niet. Daarom gaan we na afloop van de lawaaidemonstraties bij de bedrijven door naar een detentiecentrum in de buurt om aan de gevangenen te laten zien en horen dat we ze steunen.
- De eerste demonstratie: EGM
De eerste demonstratie zal plaatsvinden bij EGM architecten in Rotterdam. Daar hebben al een paar acties plaatsgevonden, waaronder een doodligactie en een eerdere lawaaidemonstratie. EGM heeft het nieuwe detentiecentrum ontworpen, en daarom beginnen we daar. Bouw begint namelijk op de tekentafel van de architect.

Jouw stem kan het verschil uitmaken. Misschien kun je deze keer niet mee, kom dan een volgende keer. Het gaat er vooral om dat we regelmatig gaan. Daarnaast kun je ook andere dingen doen. - Kicking off the campaign “Stop DC16”
This first demonstration is the publicly announced start of the campaign “Stop DC16”. The goal of this campaign is putting pressure on companies, participating in the consortium DC16. DC16 will build and exploit the new detention centre at Rotterdam Airport.
At the same time, we want to point out to all companies considering to be part of constructing prisons in the future (for example the building of the new Kamp Zeist and Schiphol Oost), that they will be facing resistance: on their doorstep.
- A new direction: prevention is better than cure
The Working Group Stop Deportations (WSD) breaks new ground. A lot of people still think WSD is the group that frequently blockaded the gates of detention centres, aiming the standing in the way of operations and of supporting the prisoners. But we want to do more than that. We want to prevent the construction of new detention centres. With the campaign “Stop DC16” we aim to tackle the problem at the roots. So we are going to visit the companies on their own sites, because: no participation, no cells!
- What is DC16?
DC16 is a consortium (a sustainable partnership) of a group of companies. The name stands for DC16 Detention Centre Zestien(16)hoven. The DC16 concerned companies are Ballast Nedam, Strukton, EGM Architects, ISS Facility Services, and the engineering agency Smits van Burgst. The consortium DC16 does not just design and construct the new detention and removal centre, but will manage (operate) the new prison for the next 25 years.
- What is so special about DC16: Privatization
The new detention centre Rotterdam Airport is the first prison in the Netherlands by public-private partnership(in Dutch: PPS) is realized. Note: a prison for people without residence papers, so failed asylum seekers and other undocumented. As happened earlier with the introduction of private "detention supervisors' also this time the privatization of the entire construction and operation by private companies will be first tested on people without papers.
- What do we do? First, non-violent noise demonstrations
By the regular holding of peaceful noise demonstrations with banners, protest signs, megaphones, pots, pans and flute concerts at the offices of the responsible companiers, we want to keep staff and management reminding where they are doing. Everyone can participate.
Together we will ensure that the names of these companies are inextricably linked to the fact that they earn money to imprison people without papers. And that is just the beginning, because the privatization does not stop at the detention centres for foreigners.
There are currently three other prisons prepared in private management, including for people in pre-trial and criminal prisoners. Let’s build it! Then we fill them to the case profitable for the companies to 'good' American example!
To these companies, then! But we will not forget the people, who are victims of the profit seeking corporations, too. That is why we, at the end of the noise demonstrations at the companies, go to a detention centre in the area for the prisoners to let them see and hear that we support them.
- The first demonstration: EGM
The first demonstration will take place at EGM architects in Rotterdam. There have been some actions taken place, including a die in and a previous noise demonstration. EGM has designed the new detention centre, so we start there. Construction begins on the drawing of the architect.
