A public discussion on Queer Politics and Activism with Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick on April 28th at the Vrankrijk, Amsterdam at 8 pm. Een publiek debat over Queer Politiek en Activisme met Eve Kosofky Sedgwick op 28 april in de Vrankrijk, Amsterdam, om 20 u. We are thrilled to announce an evening with Eve Kosofky Sedgwick, one of the most prominent Queer Theorists, at the Vrankrijk, Spuistraat 216, Amsterdam, on Monday 28th April 2008, 20.00 hours. You are invited to stay for Blue Monday following this. Eve Sedgwick is the author of 'Epistemology of the Closet', 'Between Men ...', 'Touching Feeling ...' , 'A dialogue on Love' and other texts, which have charted new territory in the domains of queer politics and queer theory. Sedgwick has helped develop the concept of homosociality, analyzed the coherences and contradictions of homophobia, examined the relationship between queer and gender stuggles, and added to debates on whether or not sex is distinct from gender. We will have an informal public discussion with Sedgwick on the following broad topics .. - Queer politics and activism : why is it disappearing, and how can we reinvent it? - Queer politics and its link with Queer theory - Living a queer experience individually versus collectively, being a queer academic, and being a queer artist - Anything else you want to discuss.
