Gentech-veld in Duitsland al week bezet

Al een week houden mensen een proefveld voor gentechgewassen bezet in Giessen. Ondertussen is er een tweede bezet veld bijgekomen in Oberboihingen




Actievoerders tegen gentechnologie in de landbouw houden al een week een proefveld bezet in Gießen. Ze hebben er tenten en een hoge wachttoren op gebouwd. "Waar de bedoeling was dat genetisch gemodificeerde planten zouden groeien, fladderen nu spandoeken met teksten tegen gentech", verklaren de actievoerders.

Het betreft een proefveld van de universiteit van Gießen. Ze hadden het veld zondagnacht 30 maart (een week geleden) bezet door een uitkijktoren en een zwaar betonblok het veld op te slepen en zich daar aan te locken, waardoor de politie moeilijk snel kon ontruimen. Vervolgens werden er tenten bijgebouwd.

Het tentenkampje is sindsdien middelpunt van discussie, en krijgt veel aanloop. Politie probeerde aanvankelijk het veld af te schermen van de buitenwereld, maar dat mislukte en nu is het vrijelijk toegankelijk en kunnen bezoekers en proviand er weer bij. Afgelopen zaterdag was er een solidariteitsdemonstratietje uit de buurt met drie traktoren en zo'n 120 mensen.

Een paar dagen later werd ook in Oberboihingen (Baden-Wurttemberg) een proefveld bezet. Een prof die leiding aan het gentechonderzoek doet, heeft inmiddels verklaard dat hij wel naar de VS zal gaan om de proeven daar te doen. De actievoerders hebben daarop verklaard dat ze een officiele verklaring verlangen dat de test daar stopgezet wordt, en dat ze hopen dat actievoerders in de VS de strijd over zullen nemen. Tot die tijd blijft de bezetting (als het aan de actievoerders ligt) voortduren.
