Flowers for Life in Iran Campaign
by Roberto Malini, Arsham Parsi, matteo Pegoraro Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at 6:28 AM
 info@everyonegroup.com

There is a need to approach Ahmadinejad and the judges and tell them, in a peaceful but firm way, that life is sacred in every part of the world and according to all religions - that always invite the faithful to be compassionate. It is for this reason that we are asking you to send a white flower (symbol of life) and a red flower (symbol of blood) to the Iranian President, Mahmud Ahmadinejad, asking him not to spill the blood of other innocent victims, and to abandon the path of terror and violence.

Stop capital punishment in Iran
To save the life of Pegah Emambakhsh (the Iranian lesbian the British Government wanted to deport to her death by stoning in Iran) Gruppo EveryOne – together with the Friends of Pegah Campaign – created a new kind of humanitarian campaign and invited all those who believe in a respect for human rights to send flowers to the prison where Pegah was being detained. Thousands of bunches of flowers were delivered to the prison, putting a strain on the prison system and convincing the authorities to re-examine her case. Pegah is now waiting for her application for political asylum to be accepted.
In Iran, however, the courts continue to sentence women, political activists, young people, free thinkers and homosexuals to death.
Capital Punishment is an inhuman retribution and contributes to the vain circle of violence and retaliation within society. So far, no country in the world has shown signs of a decrease in crime by enforcing capital punishment, especially when totalitarian regimes use execution as a legitimate means to oppress, diminish and murder their opponents and opposition groups. On the other hand, the psychological side-effects of executions, in short and long terms, are damaging to the victims’ survivors as well as to the executers of the punishment. Add to this the fact that execution reduces society’s sensitivity against violence and violent behaviour. For the foundations of a civil society, for democracy and the establishment of human rights, to respect the rights and the safety of alternative and free thinkers, and to promote a non-violent culture the omission of capital punishment is the first and foremost step. We, the undersigned of this statement, may have different political, social and cultural beliefs and objectives, but we have all come to agree on one point, and that is, the importance of abolishing capital punishment for the sake of Iranian society. We urge everyone to get involved actively in a widespread campaign against capital punishment in Iran and to help achieve this national goal through the joint efforts of all Iranians.

Fresh flowers: one white, one red to say yes to a respect for human rights, no to the death sentence. Choose a company that guarantees deliveries to Teheran (Iran), Interflora, for example.
Send the two flowers to:
President Mahmud Ahmadinejad
Pasteur Ave - 13168-43311 Tehran - Iran.
We suggest you also sign the petition and send an email to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran:
 dr-ahmadinejad@president.ir
We hope that a peaceful shower of flowers will reach Iran, taking with it the most important message of our time.
The International Campaign to Stop Executions in Iran ( http://www.stopexecution.net), Iranian Queer Organization ( http://www.irqo.net) and EveryOne Group ( http://www.everyonegroup.com) demand that the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran abolish the death penalty and punish the accused according to international human rights standards.
