Frans protest tegen 2007

Honderden mensen hebben zondagavond de regen in Nantes getrotseerd om te demonstreren tegen de viering van de jaarwisseling. Het protest was met name gericht tegen de snelheid waarmee de tijd een loopje met ons lijkt te nemen.




'Wij zijn tegen 2007' en 'Nu = Beter!' waren enkele van de strijdbare leuzen die de naar schatting 700 betogers meevoerden in hun tocht door de binnenstad van Nantes. Het was een ultieme poging om de jaarwisseling te saboteren. Tientallen klokken, wekkers, horloges en gsm's die de tijd aangeven werden kapot geslagen.

Er waren tevens de nodige muzikale en theatrale uitingen te beluisteren en aanschouwen. De initiatiefnemers van het protest nodigen de Verenigde Naties uit om een einde te maken aan "de idiote wedloop met de tijd" en een moratorium uit te spreken op de toekomst. Dat het protest in de stromende regen plaatsvond was voor de demonstranten het bewijs dat zelfs de weergoden 2007 boycotten.

In de aanloop van deze opvallende betoging, georganiseerd door een club die zich Fonacon (front tegen het nieuwe jaar) noemt, waren gelijkgestemden, gehuld in oranje vuilniszakken, zelfs vanuit België en Zwitserland komen aanlopen. Het is de bedoeling dat ook op de laatste avond van 2007 betoogd gaat worden, dan op de Champ-Elysees in Parijs. Rare jongens, die Fransen.
