latin america studies - petition joe mcelligott - 02.12.2005 01:45
latin america studies, cut education Members of Program Council, Resident Degree Program, Prescott College, Prescott, Arizona Dear Program Council members, The undersigning students and faculty of the RDP would like to support the hiring of an instructor for the Latin American Studies curricular area of our resident degree program. We understand that the enrollment for the courses that this instructor is supposed to teach in the Winter Block and Spring Quarter was low during the registration last week. We think that interpreting this as a lack of interest from the students toward this curricular area is not accurate and reflects the tendency of students to remain skeptic toward courses that are listed during registration to be taught as a TBA. We believe that having an instructor that combines a good background in the area with the ability for experiential teaching will serve as an incentive for the enrollment in these courses to change. These Class’s are already half full, some of them have already meet the required attendance level. Not only that but our school will be receiving 50-100 new students in January 2006 who may want to take these class’s. The class’s being offered in the spring of 2006 that requires the hiring of an instructor which, are school has not done so. These class’s are: Central America: Contemporary Issues; Chicano Studies; Iberian studies. Students at Prescott College have already received signatures from peers and faculty. We hope you feel compelled as other individuals to sign this petition. If you would like to sign this petition please send an e-mail to jmcelligott@prescott.edu If you would like to inquire with the President of Prescott College you may call 928-350-4100 |
