Mail US sen. :Question Harriet Miers!

Aan allen,
Harriet Miers, door Bush voorgedragen om Sandra Day O'Connor te vervangen
in het Amerikaanse Hooggerechtshof, heeft de senaat laten weten dat ze
zich in 1989 krachtig tegen de vrijheid van abortus heeft gekeerd.
In haar kennismakingsgesprekken met senatoren is zij niet ingegaan op
concrete kwesties zoals de abortusvrijheid.
Er staat veel op het spel. Sandra Day O'Connor heeft, hoewel ze licht
conservatief was, altijd voor het recht op abortus gestemd (hoewel wel met
restricties).
Het is dus van groot belang dat senatoren geen vaagheden zullen
accepteren, maar dat deze nominee onder druk wordt gezet om zich uit te
spreken over haar visie op Roe versus Wade.
De pro choice organisaties in de VS dringen erop aan dat zij niet wordt
aangenomen als ze geen duidelijk antwoord geeft op belangrijke vragen over
deze kwestie.
Omdat ik nog geen emailaktie op sites van NOW of planned parenthood heb
zien verschijnen, heb ik zelf een email gestuurd naar 2 senatoren waarvan
ik de emailadressen vond.
Ik hoop dat anderen hen ook willen mailen. Daartoe zijn jullie dus hierbij
opgeroepen. Als mensen meer emailadressen van senatoren in de VS hebben,
please mail ze aan mij. alvast dank voor de te nemen moeite.

Dear Senator,
Though i am not from Wisconsin i take the freedom to write you about my
concerns about the possible views of Harriet Miers on the right to
abortion.
The US supreme court is a powerful institute, and with changes in the
balance between conservative and moderate members the right to abortion is
at stake.
Thats why i take the freedom to urge you to ask Harriet Miers the
following questions:
— "Would you oppose the use of public monies for abortion except where
necessary to prevent the death of the mother?"
— "Will you oppose the use of City funds or facilities by any persons,
groups, clinics or organizations to promote, encourage or provide
referrals for abortions?"
— "Will you vote against the appointment of pro-abortion persons to City
Boards or Committees that deal with health issues?"
— "Would you refuse the endorsement of any organization that supports
abortion-on-demand?"
— "Will you participate in press conferences to promote the goals of the
pro-life movement?"
— "Will you use your influence as an elected official within the confines
of your oath of office to promote the pro-life cause?"
— Will you participate in pro-life rallies and special events?"
I would like to hear from you if you will question this nominee on the
issue : Roe versus Wade.
