***UM - Cambridge, UK
Cambridge based dada pop phenomenon UM, has his own take on the
vocal lofi crushed pop idea. He sings and talks over tapes of himself
singing and talking with cracked up electronic backing.
The songs are propelled by charity shop grooves, sampled loops and
post-digital crunches and hums. His style is short, darkly humourous tales
that are often touching.
Be afraid, the future of DIY singer-songwriter electronica is among us.
His discography comprises of many limited edition home-produced
cassettes and CD-Rs, and a recent 7" single "africa is a fridge" on
Strange Lights records.
UM has shared live space with V/VM, Felix Kubin, Ariel Pink, Panda
Bear, Kevin Blechdom and Mum.

MFU considers himself a revivalist of early electronic pop and
avantgarde music, a la Jean Jacques Perrey and Karlheinz Stockhausen.
MFU uses theremin, reel to reel tapes, analogue keyboards,
drum machines, vinyl, adapted equipment, random electronics,
masks, his own goddamn voice, shortwave radio and generally produces
modernist tone clusters or aggressively funky porno-rock.
It all reeks of SPACE, however.
"The centre-piece of my performance is the theremin
-- an instrument with two antennae which responds musically
to the proximity of my body within its electro-magnetic forcefield.
Because I do not need to touch the instrument to make music,
I can literally conjure sounds from the THIN AIR."
The "Wild moogimals" 7" on Strange LIghts is his latest outing, following
on from several self produced cdr's.
Currently getting well-deserved exposure in London and well beyond
(having recently played everywhere from London's legendary
Kosmische club to the Tate Modern and with Faust and Felix Kubin
this september), the Man From Uranus Electrical Music Show
lands in Den Haag.

Local collective, with Charlie Watkins as the central figure, formed in '98.
Shitcluster originates from house, tekno, art, tv and radio. Using
mini samplers, effects, distortion, tapeloops and computers their
performance incorporates visuals and can be experienced as confusing,
surrealistic or just plain fun.
