Doc Jazz eist respect voor moslims

Op de website van Doc Jazz is het nummer "Respect" verschenen, een opzwepend nummer dat oproept tot een einde aan etnische en religieuze stigmatisering.

Terwijl de druk op de Islamitische gemeenschappen in Nederland toeneemt, en de multiculturele samenleving als door een ongeschreven afspraak als onhaalbaar wordt bestempeld, houdt Doc Jazz vast aan waarden die gebaseerd zijn op gelijkwaardigheid en wederzijds respect.
Uit het bijschrift op de website (Engels):
"Right-wing groups in the Netherlands, who are still rebuilding their basis of political representation after the death of Pim Fortuyn, are calling for the end of a multicultural society, and the cultural assimilation of the youths of these ethnic minorities. In other words, they are to de-islamize themselves in order to be accepted into Dutch society.
This unacceptable excuse for racism is the result of a lack of respect, which is fed and enhanced by media and politicians.
This is why 'Respect' calls upon Islamic youths to stay who they are and protect their identity, and upon Dutch society to embrace the concept of respect for other cultures and religions."
Het nummer kan via de website direct als streaming audio beluisterd worden, en ook gratis worden gedownload.
Vorige week werd de muziek van Doc Jazz gebruikt als onderwerp van twee kwisvragen in het programma "Nationale Nieuwsquiz" van de NCRV. Het betrof het satirische nummer "Balken van Ellende", over premier Balkenende. Voor meer informatie hierover (inclusief videoclip) zie ook de website.
