Iraqi arts and artists in Amsterdam

A festival of arts by Iraqi artst is held from the 26th of September till the 24th of October 2004 at Galerie S and Artcentre Kadekunst in Amsterdam. The festival is an initiative of 21 Iraqi artists (painters, poets, actors, singers and musicians) residing in The Netherlands.
من أكتوبر مهرجاناً فنياً متنوعاً تحت عنوان (فنون عراقية في أمستردام) بمبادرة من عدد من الفنانين والأدباء العراقيين الذين يعيشون في هولندا وبالتعاون مع قاعتي عرض فنيتين في مركز العاصمة.
Through the activities and the arts a wide audience is introduced to the rich artistic and cultural background of Iraq to create a better mutual understanding. The festival is held in two galleries where the work of six artists is exhibited; Qassim Alsaedy, Ziad Haider, Sattar Kawoosh, Aras Kareem, Araz and Awni Sami.

Every Sunday a cultural activity takes place in the galleries. Journalist and writer Chris Keulemans will open the festival on the 26th of September. A poetry performance will be given by poet Salah Hassan and ney-player and percussionist Sattar al-Saadi.
The 3rd of October two lectures are given about old Mesopotamian culture and modern Iraqi art by Kozad Mohammad Ahmed and Floris Schreve. Man and his search for his place in the world is the subject of the theatre performance held on the 10th of October, made by Saleh Hassan (actor), Fahrudin Salihbegovic (theatremaker) and Hazim Kemaleddin (advisor)
The 17th of October six Iraqi poets will introduce their new poems: Salah Hassan, Chaalan Charif, Mowaffk al-Sawad, Mohammad al-Amin, Naji Rahim and Ali Shaye. A publication of the poems is available in Dutch, including six illustrations by illustrator Kifah al-Reefi. A concert on the 24th of October by Saleh Bustan (singer), Jamil Mohammad (qanoon) and Latif al-Obaidi (tabla, lute), will mark the end of the festival
من أكتوبر مهرجاناً فنياً متنوعاً تحت عنوان (فنون عراقية في أمستردام) بمبادرة من عدد من الفنانين والأدباء العراقيين الذين يعيشون في هولندا وبالتعاون مع قاعتي عرض فنيتين في مركز العاصمة.
طوال فترة المهرجان سيكون هناك معرض تشكيلي لستة من الفنانين العراقيين المقيمين في هولندا (قاسم الساعدي، زياد حيدر، آراز كريم، ستار كاووش، عوني سامي، آراز طالب) حيث تتوزع أعمالهم على كلا القاعتين. وفي ظهيرة كل يوم أحد ستكون هناك فعالية ثقافية. ففي السادس والعشرين سيفتتح المهرجان من قبل الكاتب والصحفي الهولندي المعروف كريس كوليمان وسيشهد الافتتاح قراءة شعرية للشاعر صلاح حسن مصحوبة بمعزوفات موسيقية للفنان ستار الساعدي.
في الأحد التالي، الثالث من اكتوبر ستكون هناك محاضرتان، الأولى حول التراث الرافديني يلقيها عالم الآشوريات كوزاد محمد أحمد. والثانية حول الفن التشكيلي العراقي في المهجر للباحث الهولندي المتخصص بالفن العراقي فلوريس سخريفه. وفي العاشر من اكتوبر سيكون الجمهور على موعد مع مسرحية (اين الهناك) التي تدور حول علاقة الإنسان بالمكان ويمثل الفنان صالح حسن الشخصية الوحيدة في المسرحية التي اشرف على تدريباتها الفنان العراقي المعروف حازم كمال الدين ، المسرحية من إخراج الفنان اليوغسلافي فخر الدين صالحبيكوفيتش.
في السابع عشر من أكتوبر ستكون هناك قراءات شعرية لستة من الشعراء العراقيين المقيمين في هولندا ( صلاح حسن، شعلان شريف، موفق السواد، ناجي رحيم، علي شايع، محمد الأمين) مسبوقة بمحاضرة عن الشعر العربي الحديث أعدتها المستعربة الهولندية كارولين روزيت، كما سيكون بوسع الحاضرين اقتناء كتيب خاص بالمهرجان يضم الترجمات الهولندية للقصائد مصحوبة برسومات للفنان كفاح الريفي.
يختتم المهرجان بحفلة موسيقسة يحييها المطرب صالح بستان برفقة العازفين جميل محمد ولطيف العبيدي.
