Dresden-Ahaus nuclear trucking licensed By WigA - 31.03.2004 01:36
Dresden-Ahaus nuclear trucking licensed - Demo Wednesday! The German environment minister, Jürgen Trittin, and the Federal Radiation Protection Office have licensed road transport of highly active nuclear waste from Dresden to Ahaus. The Ahaus Civic Action Group and Münsterland Anti-Nuclear Initiative reacted immediately: there will be a demonstration on 1 April at 6 p.m. in Ahaus outside the town hall (This is NO APRIL JOKE!). Now the permission for transporting 951 fuel rods came very fast after all. At the same time permission was granted to emplace the MTR-2 Castor caskets, which means that soon Castors from the brand new research reactor FRM II in Garching near Munich will be allowed to roll into the thin-walled Ahaus storage hall. And just by the way, Ahaus was declared secure against aircraft crashes - the Titanic can’t sink either... And all of this is to roll on trucks down the motorways!! Now resistance is called for. It must become clear between Dresden and Ahaus in the coming weeks that the transports will become a mighty spectacle. It could already be felt in recent weeks how the resistance was growing markedly – if it continues like this, it will be possible to stop the transports. Protests will begin tomorrow (1 April) in Ahaus. The town council will be meeting about the Castors. The anti-nuclear activists want to use the opportunity loudly and unmistakeably to demonstrate against the transport permits. Come to Ahaus!! One thing is clear: should Day X come there will be camps in Dresden and Ahaus. Between them lie 600 km of autobahns. That offers plenty of scope thoroughly to disrupt the transport schedule. Creativity is called for. Think about autobahn-friendly actions! Give the Castor a puncture before it sets off! Homepage:: http://www.wigatom.de ¦ |
