The manipulation of Resist.

As volunteer of indymedia.be, I'm not so glad to see that their is a publicity for a political party on Indymedia.org
"Earlier in the week, planespotting took place at the Belgium airport Oostende>. Oosteinde is used for civil flights with military material and the change the crews, but one of the companies recently decided to fly via the UK (nl) instead. A few days later, a group of activists walked on the runway (nl, fr) and hung up a banner (nl) with "No war for oil. Resist" over the windows of the controll tower"
This comes out the feature on Indymedia.org
Resist is a party that will come up with the elections in Belgium on 18 May.
It is a combination of Stalinists and Arabian nationalists.
Resist doesn't mean resist like in Englisch language, but is an advertisement for a political party that will come up with the elections in Belgium.
Some people of Indymedia.be did write a book for this party.
I wonder how many people know that some people in Belgium arer using Indymedia.be for their own sake, for their party.
Using a war to make publicity for your own party, how low can you fall?

Indymedia mag natuurlijk niet gebruikt worden om propaganda te maken maar mag ook niet misbruikt worden om een bepaalde partijpolitieke geschilletjes uit te vechten. Dat zou schandalig zijn ten opzichte van wat er in Irak gebeurt.

Debat Resist 2: "Waarom wij op Resist stemmen"
De lijst Resist is zowat de enige ernstige lijst die zich consequent uit tegen de oorlog en het neoliberalisme, de Palestijnse strijd steunt en de aspiraties van de meest onderdrukte lagen in onze maatschappij poogt uit te drukken. Stemmen op onafhankelijke of AEL-kandidaten op de lijst Resist betekent dan ook een steun aan de strijd voor gelijke sociale, politieke en culturele rechten, voor de waardigheid en het respect voor de eigen identiteit van culturele minderheden en een kritiek op de neoliberale politiek van de paarsgroene regering.

Indymedia heeft onafhankelijke journalistiek hoog in haar vaandel staan. Nochtans deinsen twee bekende redacteuren van Indymedia.be er niet voor terug om een stemadvies te geven.

Het artikel 'The manipulation of Resist' gevolgd met allerlei brieven met kritiek op Resist werden ook op www.indymedia.be gepubliceerd. De campagne blijkt toevallig samen te gaan met een interview met Prof.Kruythof in de neo-liberale krant 'De Morgen'.
Ik stel vast dat het artikel 'The manipulation of Resist' en alle brieven met kritiek op Resist op de website www.indymedia.be en op de website www.indymedia.nl zijn blijven staan terwijl in de kritieken voortdurend wordt gesteld dat Indymedia volledig ingepalmd is door 'de communisten' en compleet 'gecensureerd' wordt.

We zijn overeengekomen dat we niet zouden doen alsof er geen verkiezingen zouden zijn op de website. We hebben afgesproken alle dissidente alternatieven te steunen, dus ook de electorale strategie vanuit anarchistische hoek : de verkiezingen boycotten. Ik heb minstens aan 2 personen gevraagd om hierover een artikel te schrijven (een onderbouwd artikel, dus geen anonieme domme comment), maar tot hiertoe niets vauit die hoek. Hallo? Het is niet omdat jullie in slaap zijn gevallen dat anderen ook in slaap moeten vallen.
Het valt nog mee, met de presidentsverkiezingen in de VS waren sommige indymedia`s compleet omgeturnd tot Green Party - Ralph Nader websites:-) In ieder geval durfden ze wel de discussie aan te gaan. Hier niet blijkbaar

Really, is this all there is to oppose RESIST.
I reclaim my right to participate in elections. "Reclaim the ballot", that is the thrue meaning of RESIST. I think it is incredible that people want to take that right away from me and others .
And people please do not blame RESIST of being a anti-war list, tell me what other alternatives there are : CD&V???
As far as I can see RESIST is NOT the only list that thruely opposes the war. There is also MARIA, and there are also the PTB & PVDA lists all over Belgium.
If there are other lists please tell us, .... but do not tell those who reclaim the ballot to remain silent.

MARA: "In ieder geval durfden ze wel de discussie aan te gaan. Hier niet blijkbaar". Misschien dat sommigen te weinig verder kijken dan hun eigen site? Of bedoelde Mara hier iets anders mee? Hierbij een paar links van oa. een lijst die op indymedia zelfs een oproep doet om op de lijst te komen, een link over verkiezingen in Duitsland en een link naar links over de verkiezingen in Nederland (de onderste) en nog wat andere relevante zaken.

CONSENSUS OF THE COLLECTIVE
The Belgium Indymedia collective have been discussing this issue for months. The collective reach the following consensus:
during the elections, continue to give spaces to all the people / organisations that are part of the movement. This means that we give space on the website for the lists and the parties that trully commited themselves against war, against globalization, etc … Which means also give space for those whom are against elections.
This have been discussed and decided weeks ago, so it's a bit late now to claim that Indymedia.be is 'kidnapped' by this one or this one. Indymedia.be isn't one sided at all and continue to give space to various social movement. Have a look at the content and at the features, and you'll see there're many about issue that have nothing to do with elections and that promote actions of organisations / collective that have nothing to do with elections or whom are opposed to elections.
So who is manipulating here, huh ?
Look at the facts, look at the content. Not at the rumors and the personal feelings of some persons.

Giving space to a party is not the same like promotting it, what members of Indymedia.be do now.

Fijn dat je ogen eindelijk open aan het gaan zijn. Maar wat me nu vooral interesseert is: vanwaar deze plotse ommezwaai. Want tot voor enkele weken zat ook jij alle commentaar op de gang van zaken op indy.be neer te halen. Misschien moet ik je nog eens herinneren aan een bepaald artikel van mij?

Als iemand kritiek aan de werkwijze van Indymedia.be heeft, dan ga dat aub met de mensen daar diskutieren, maar niet op andere Indymedia sites zeuren.
