Wake bij VS ambassade in Den Haag

Honderden mensen zijn gekomen naar de wake bij de amerikaanse ambassade in Den Haag. Ter vergelijking: na de eerste bommen op Afghanistan stonden we er met z'n tienen. Allerlei soorten mensen waren aanwezig, alhoewel de mainstream pers (zoals de cameraploeg van RTL nieuws) vooral aandacht had voor de AEL jongeren die een beetje liepen te klieren.

10 jochies met een AEL vlag liepen door de toespraken heen stomme leuzen te roepen: "Hamas, Jihad, Hezbollah" en nog meer van dat soort onzin. Erg respectsloos naar de rest van de demonstratie. Vooral ook het feit dat ze doorgingen toen er om een minuut stilte werd gevraagd voor de slachtoffers in Irak.

Nog erger die geilzieke media die weinig aandacht gaven aan de demo maar wel aan de AELjongeren.
Woor mij typevoetbalhooligans die thuis keurig netjes hun huiswerk maken en desgewenst met 2 woorden spreken.
In ieder geval wel een Turkse jonge die ik ken van mijn werk,zeer aardig en beleefd.
Nu in een groep met een hoop aandacht en media ,heerlijk puberaal maar negatief voor het doel waar wij voorstonden plus voor de bekrompen geesten die hen gelijk generaliseren.
De politie heeft ze uit frustratie bij afloop in een stil straatje gearresteerd voor het verbranden van een vlag.
Voor iedereen weer een lintje met 30 april

Het valt me op dat de politie Den Haag altijd wat fanatieker is met arresteren en verwijderen dan hun collega's uit andere steden. In Amsterdam werd ook een Amerikaanse vlag in de brand gestoken, maar daar maande een agente de aanstichters tot kalmte, maakte rustig het vlammetje uit en ging verder met rondwandelen.

In den haag moet je echt het allelaagste schorum zijn, wil je bij de politie kunnen werken.
Ik ben zelf een veroordeeld op een bij elkaar gelogen verklaring, door drie agenten ondertekend.

This is a true event that occured to me 2 days ago in Den Haag, the Netherlands.
It is a sad state of affairs when your basic rights are taken from you
in the name of simple democracy, and the freedom to express your ideas
which include those for stnding up for peace.

Den Hague Tuesday March 18 - 1800
The sun was setting low with a sombre red tone across the many purple and white crocus flowers blanketed across the grounds surrounding the American and British embassies.
Hurriedly around the two embassies, as both Dutch nationals and a mixture of of peoples made there way home for the day, Dutch authorities began putting concrete walls in place. Either it was to protect the embassies, or to protect the huge Blue tank and 5 or 6 marines holding machine guns that were allready there.
The scene was farcical to say the least.
A few people stopped and shook there heads, at the disbelief of this scene and at the disbelief I assume of the Dutch government and its typical last minute idea of supporting the US War Mongers, and not standing by there European community.
I decided after chatting to a peace activist, who clearly told me that you were not allowed to protest without having your name taken by the authorites, due to the sensitiveness of the situation, that the idea of democracy was but a a whimper in the setting sun.
I am sick of going home and watching helplessly, the news, and hearing both my lackey Australian prime-minister and now the country I choose to live in, which I believed was a peace loving nation, the Netherlands, bowing to the un-democratic, anti United Nations and money hungry US, it is time to say and do my part for the ideals of democracy.
I went home and put on my own designed anti war t-shirt saying "SCREW U - NO WAR"
and grabbed the camera to get some great historical pics of this ridiculous and sad scene.
On my return I began grabbing some great images of the machine-gun wielding marines backlit by a wonderful blue Dutch tank and a star and stripped US flag.
A few mintues passed and after 9 great shots I was surrounded by 3-5 Dutch authorites asking me in Dutch what I was doing. I responded politely saying I was taking historical images of this scene. They requested that they see my camera and asked if it was digital and what I would be doing with the images. They also requested my ID and and preceded to contact there authorities with my details.
The scene was quite funny and soon more police arrived. I happily showed the authroities the images and after more conversations with there superiors I was told to delete the images.
Well, what else could I do.
I then said, the situation was quite silly and I was told "yes, but you are wearing and anti-war t-shirt as well, and that as with the images are sensitve."
I did not argue as there was no point, especially with 5 - 6 police surrounding me.
The officer then told me that I have done nothing wrong, but a file would be made of what I did and this event.
So the sun set and the cold moon presented itself that sombre day in March 2003, in Den Haag, where diplomacy gives itself over to force and democracy is....

idd als Den Haag nou eens zou stoppen met de massale politie inzet die ik de laatste tijd daar tegen kom (gister, studente demo, etc.). ten eerste kost het klauwe met poen, ten tweede is het gewoon niet nodig om politie betogers 1 op 1 of meer politie dan betogers te hebben, ten derde voel je je juist niet veilig maar bedreigt met zon enorme politie macht om je heen. en zo zijn er nog wel wat meer argumenten te noemen.

nou het is niet allemaal schorem hoor in dh, vandaag ben ik gearresteerd zoals nooit tevoren. Zo`n heel lief mooi knap jong MEestertje die echt niet probeerde om me pijn te doen ofzo.
Zo zie je maar, iedere dag leer je nog wat bij.
(of zou ze eigenlijk van een ander korps komen?)
Over AELbrandje: gewoon niet slim om midden in de menigte een fikkie te steken, dat is zo`n beetje de enige reden om daar inderdaad tegen op te treden. Israël IS immers net zo`n schorem als de USA. (of is dat ongeoorloofd generaliseren?)
