ASCII ontwaakt uit haar winterslaap! Vanaf zaterdag 22 februari zijn we weer
dagelijks geopend van 14:00-19:00 op onze nieuwe lokatie.

Feestelijke opening
Zaterdag 22 februari, vanaf 14:00 Kinkerstraat 92, Amsterdam

ASCII is een non-profit internetwerkplaats die geheel draait op vrijwiligers. Wij reviseren oude computers en bouwen ze om tot iets wat nog bruikbaar is om mee te internetten of om bij NGO's als server te dienen. We geven cursussen in Linux, onderhouden websites voor o.a. non-profit organisaties en helpen radiostations hun signaal op internet hoorbaar te maken.

BakSCII
Internet op rare plaatsen is een van onze favoriete bezigheden. Daarom bouwen wij aan de BakSCII, een portable internetcafe dat op draadloos internet werkt. Te zien op

WirelessBijlmer
In de Bijlmer experimenteren wij samen met Stadsdeel ZuidOost, Radio ZuidOost en de Bewonersraad met draadloos internet in de hoogbouw.

Linux
In ascii draaien alle computers Linux, omdat wij vinden dat software vrij hoort te zijn. Medewerkers van ASCII zijn aktief betrokken bij de ontwikkeling van Gentoo Linux en Linux streaming software. Ook geven wij cursussen.

Computer-recycling
Naast onze ruimte op Kinkerstraat 92 hebben we een recycling-lab op de 2e Kostverlorenkade 105-108.
