The Stubnitz has ported Amsterdam-noord

Foundation Kinetisch Noord invited the MS Stubnitz from Rostock to moor at the quays of the former NDSM Ship yard in Amsterdam North in september/october 2002.
Foundation Kinetisch Noord invited the MS Stubnitz from Rostock to moor at the quays of the former NDSM Ship yard in Amsterdam North in september/october 2002. As one probably might know, Kinetisch Noord is managing the NDSM wharf for a period of 10 years. With the MS Stubnitz Kinetisch Noord wants to enter a collaboration to present a 3 week lasting manifestation with different international, Dutch and local (Amsterdam based) arts initiatives and artists. The program contains an experimental framework and will pay special attention to multidisciplinairy art. The presentation is entitled Stubnitz.nl.
Stubnitz.nl researches the possible fusion of the (performance)artpractice and the strongly increasing new media. The presence of the new media has stimulated both, the individual artist as the arts initiatives as well to a new social and artistic awareness. This awareness is primarily fed by the turbulent time which is surrounding us. Next to the neverending social, political and cultural conflicts, the reshaping of values and views on our world are mainly funded on transitions, transformations and globalisations caused by new media. As such new and fresh ideas are developped on a social and artistic area, and at the same time new forms of presentation are rising. Due to the unorganized chaotic patterns by which this is occuring, the current system of the (performance)artpractice and as such 'the ones who are presenting and the ones who are presented' is fairly stirred up. This new state of things is traced and followed in Stubnitz.nl.
In this way Stubnitz.nl researches new ways to present art. Stubnitz.nl wants to offer a frame (content, location, program) but tries at the same time to open up this frame for each participant to experiment. The result is not premidatedly layed down but is created at the moment. Stubnitz.nl wants to bring together upcoming and young artists, initiatives and networks to create through a common effort the presentation right on that moment and on that specific location. The different locations and program's offer a wide context in which all particpants have sufficient possibilities to present their work in an experimental way. Priority within the written context and the collaboration between Kinetisch Noord and the MS Stubnitz is the consolidation, the development and the stimulation of links between formal (established) and informal (subcultural) networks, local, national, international.
