Mountain march SOS ITOITZ Eurokeria - 15.08.2002 17:31
Mountain march SOS ITOITZ From 28 to 31 August Free Iņaki! Itoitz, Red Alarm. Kartel Last 12 of June, the Audiencia Nacional (National High Court) gave the legal green light to the Itoitz Dam Project. Therefore the filling trials, announced and postponed during the last four years, will happen very soon. This new situation implies the imminent eviction of the villages [in the valley], the logging of the trees, the construction of a new road in Itoitz, in short, the execution of all secondary works that are necessary to proceed to a hypothetical filling. In the meantime millions keep escaping through the new Channel of Navarre, works that begun a year ago now. It is also a year ago that our comrade Iņaki has been in prison, for defending the valleys that we will see during this Mountain March. In the meantime the other 7 comrades, sentenced for the cut-off of the cables, are not so lucky. For all this and because we think that this is an extremely serious situation, even though it is 'legal', the reasons to oppose this monster are more valid than ever. After organising two camps, this year we have turned them into a Mountain March, closer to the threatened valleys, villages and people. In order to get to know the current situation a lot closer and cry out and SOS, through the valleys of Irati and Urrobi, get your back pack, come round. See you in Agoitz!
