NUON VS AZART -friday 22 March - 11.00 am. Parnassusweg 220 Amsterdam Support needed!! NUON VS AZART -friday 22 March - 11.00 am. Parnassusweg 220 Amsterdam On the 4th of October in 2000 the Ship of Fools of captain August Dirks ran by accident over one of Nuonīs electricity cables. The Azart was on itīs way to a festival in Alkmaar when suddenly the depht of the canal didīnīt seem to fit the ship. All ten members of the crew were relieved however when, after some manoeuvres, they could still sail forward. How awfull the suprise when the waterpolice awaited them on the Alkmaar quay. Apparently the ship had damaged one of Nuonīs cables and by consequence some 40 farms around Alkmaar were temporarily shut off from electricity. To cover these damage costs Nuon immediately demanded Dfl. 100.000,- ( 45.300,-) from the captain. As the ship doesnot have such an amount of capital Nuon demanded it to be publicly sold. Since then the Azart is grounded by chain awaiting the outcome of a legal battle. On Friday the 22th of March the Azart-lawyer, Hajo Vlasman, will do his utmost to prevent 10 (international) artists from losing their home, their jobs and their source of inspiration. The Azart is Hollandīs only theatership that has remained afloat in the last 13 years without subsidy or sponsorship. What has been built in 13 years can be destroyed in one simple demand from a millions spending company as Nuon. To support the Azartcrew in the horrible event the captain invites everyone to come on fridaymorning to the Parnassusweg 220 where breakfast will be served from 10.00 a.m. in the red autobus of Artimobiel. On 10.30 THE WORLDīS FIRST WALKING EXPOSITION will move to the courtbuilding. With more than 500 items of Azartīs history the crowd will illustrate the only capital the Azart possesses, the artistic capital. The courtcase takes place at 11.00 and afterwards the lawyer will make a public statement. JOIN ALL and help prevent the loss of a unique Amsterdam theatre collective that has already toured the world broadly and will continue to do so if not stopped by the rigidity and absurdity of Nuonīs demands.
