Leon de Winter over Willem en Maxima
nomaxima - 31.01.2002 11:24

Leon de Winter "A Hit or Not"
Hans Schippers - 02.02.2002 23:43

Should Leon de Winter apologize or not.

I´m reading frequently Leon´s columns in the "Algemene Dagblad". Generaly spoken I like the attitude of his articles. I read the original text of his article concerning Willem Alexander and Maxima Zorreguieta in the "Berliner Morgenpost", even this time I can find myself in his critisimn with respect to the dutch royal family. However this time there´s a "maar" (dutch for "however"), Leon was apparently very angry when he wrote his article. Basically there´s nothing wrong in writing an article when you´re angry, only you have to read the article the next day before sending it to your editorial office. Apparently Leon was under timepresure when wrote his article, so he did not read his article before he launched it. That´s a pity since the discussion now bypasses the essence of his article. The discussion is now about the unnecessary nasty things he wrote about princess Juliana. Leon should now in public remorsefully apologize. Next thing Leon should do is republish as soon as possible a screened, well documentated and updated version of his article under fire.
Finally, after seeing the interview with Willem Alexander and Maxima Zorreguieta, I was at least as angry as Leon was at the time.
