Berlusconi and Blair: dinner is served! chi - 02.11.2001 16:03
Tony Blair, the English butler of president Bush, came back K.O. from his trip in the Middle East. The trip to Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel and Gaza is unanimously considered a flop. It was supposed to pursue the arab simpathy for the great coalition against Afghanistan and Bin Laden with his principal "ace" that he threw on the table: the future "palestinian state" whose historical necessity has been discovered by Bush and Blair (and the "count for nothing" Berlusconi) since the bombing has started in Afghanistan. But he was only slapped in the face in Syria and in Saudi Arabia and even Sharon received him with a blast of "selective homicides" (8 in 2 days). On his way back to London, Blair decided to refresh himself with some Italian cuisine. Yesterday evening, Berlusconi invited him for dinner at the prefecture (to avoid surprises) in Genua, where they already met for the memorable G8. Berlusconi´s house speaker Bonaiuti says that the frantic contacts which the two leaders had lately (Berlusconi with Bush, Putin, Sharon, Arafat; Blair with the leaders of half of the world to whom Bush sent him) were the center of the conversation. On the Genua dinner table there is the original idea by Berlusconi of a "Marshall plan" for the future of a Palestian "little state" which should rise when the "peace" discussion table is open and closed. That is after Arafat will succeed to stop "the violence". Of course with Sharon as the "negotiator" sitting at the head of the table. www.ilmanifesto.it |
