Oaxaca 5e megamarcha + vooravond revolutie?

's Nachts wordt er geschoten in de straten van Oaxaca; een 'life' report.
Verder is er vandaag de eerste echte krachtmeting van Lopez Obrador tegenover het door militairen afgegrendelde parlementsgebouw in Mexico-city.

Vandaag, voor mij is nu 03.15 's nachts, is er om 15.00 -locale tijd- de 5e megamarcha in Oaxaca:

Ben om 02.00 in de ochtend mijn bed uitgegaan, na mogelijke schoten en ontploffingen. Het was waar ik wat vrienden heb zitten van een caravaan die vandaag zijn aangekomen.
Iedereen was natuurlijk wakker en op elke straathoek stonden groepen mensen van APPO en leraren met wat primitieve 'wapens' (stokken, van die elastiekjes om stenen mee af te schieten, etc).
Een had zelfs een bazooka in elkaar geflanst, maar in plaats daar wat metaal als projectiel in te stoppen, was het bedoeld om er plastic mee af te schieten als het echt nodig was.
De ontloffingen waren lawinevuurpijlen die de APPO mensen afschoten op naderende auto's die niet omkeerden, nadat er vanuit een auto meerdere schoten rond 02.00 gelost waren.
Dat maakte ik ook mee: Stond op de straathoek waar eerder de schoten gelost waren, op de eerste bemande barricade. Een grote stationwagon naderde langzaam en keerde niet om. Iedereen rende weg en probeerde dekking te zoeken, maar op deze hoek was die er nauwelijks. Toen groepeerden wat mensen zich en gingen er op af. Een lawinevuurpijl werd scherend over het asfalt richting de auto afgeschoten en ging daar op 2 meter afstand voor af.

Van die gemaskerde politieagenten is er het bewijs: Een verslaggever van TV Azteca legde alles op band vast; ca 35 politie pickups & bij die aanval hebben ze een ingenieur doodgeschoten en een TV station vernield dat in handen was van APPO. En toen kon de TV-Azteca redactie (zeer Ulises getrouw) niet meer manipuleren met deze harde feiten.
Om 02.00 sliep ik niet, maar lag op bed. De 'zenuwen' (nu nieuwe lichte knal; vuurpijl, of was dit een schot?) had ik toen al een beetje.
Immers, het is nu 1 september??!
Er staat namelijk mogelijk ook wat te gebeuren in Mexico-stad.
Daar staan morgen mogelijk weer miljoenen mensen tegenover het parlement waar president Fox een rede gaat geven in deze gestolen verkiezingen.
Militairen zijn er al weken voor aan het oefenen en hebben zelfs een 4 meter hoge muur rond het parlement gebouwd.
Het Iraq scenario? En wiens idee was dat; het lijkt wat op een hedendaags gangbaar imperialistische USA ontwerp.
Dan is er 16 September de grote dag; de viering van de Mexicaanse revolutie en roept Lopez Obrador zijn schaduwregering van het volk uit.
Dat tegenover het grootse nationale militarie defile dat eveneens in de straten van Mexico-city gehouden gaat worden. Symbolischer kan het niet; het volk tegenover de militairen in een groots internationaal TV spectacel.
Inmiddels heeft men dan -uiterlijk op 6 September- bevestigd dat Calderon president van Mexico wordt, na de schandalige verkiezingsroof en even schandalige mediamanipulaties.
Zo werd 12 dagen het TV nieuws bijna geheel gevuld met het valse visserverhaal, Mexicanen die na 9 maanden ergens richting Australie aanspoelden.
Succesvol werd zo de kracht uit de beweging van Lopez Obrador gehaald.
De hamvraag is dan ook of hij vandaag weer miljoenen op de been brengt, of dat het voor hem over is?
Het is maar Mexico... Nou, mooi niet. Zonder Mexico als kolonie van de USA, valt wellicht ook het huidige imperialistische bewind van de USA. En daarmee krijg je een domino effect. En wat de Mexicanen kunnen, vind mogelijk in andere landen ook gevolg. Men zegt hier soms al: waarom niet? Eens in de honderd jaar is er ongeveer een revolutie.

Overigens werden gistermiddag 2 autos met leraren beschoten door de politie die op weg waren naar Oaxaca-stad; ca. 30 KM naar het zuiden.
De "bazooka" was trouwens de lanceerbuis voor de lawine vuurpijlen. Het "plastic" daarin, de top van die pijl. Zou het zelf van metaal gemaakt hebben, wat kruit erin en metaal erachteraan of zo. Maar laat ik mij er maar niet teveel mee bemoeien(..!)
Er zijn trouwens met AK47 bewapende "guerilla's" in de bergen iets te noorden van Oaxaca-stad. Ze laten zich maar al te graag fotograferen en beschikken over gloednieuwe onoffciele legerkledij tijdens blokkades.
Nasst de opmerkelijkheid van de nieuwe kleding die meestal niet is voorbehouden aan guerilla's, bevinden ze zich vlak nabij een groot militair terrein/basis. Op deze basis bevindt zich waarschijnlijk het battalion 36, dat vanaf Minatitlan (Veracruz) richting Oaxaca-stad is gestuurd (het is immers de kortste weg door de bergen ten noorden van Oaxaca).
Uiterst onwaarschijnlijk dat enkele 'guerilla's' zich ophouden nabij een goedgetraind batallion (inclusief zware wapens), dat klaarstaat om de strijd aan te gaan.
Oftewel: dit zijn paramilitairen van, of gelieerd aan, batallion 36
APPO heeft al gezegd hier niets mee te maken te hebebn, want dit lijkt de tactiek om een excuus te hebben, militair in te gaan grijpen.

Ze roepen van een nieuwe nog onbekende org te zijn die voor APPO en EZLN is, maar hebben die er wat mee te maken? Zelfs subcommandante Marcos loopt normaliter niet rond in nieuwe kledij en ziet er 'wat smerig uit' in zijn werk kloffie.

De Zocalo van Oaxaca is nu aan het volstromen. Ik weet niet hoe ze dat willen doen, want zo groot is die niet...
Heb de hele demo zien langskomen; eerst ca. 1,5 uur (zonder horloge!) aan de kant gestaan/gezeten (ca 10 demonstranten per 2-3 secondes), vervolgens korte tijd tegen de demo ingelopen tot het einde.
Ik kom dan op ca. 50.000-80.000 demonstranten. Een aardige foutmarge, maar een stuk beter dan al die idioten. Sommige beweren zelfs 1,5 miljoen!!! (alsof dit provincie hoofdstadje even grote demo's als Mexcio-city heeft).
Nog geen nieuwsberichten van de pers op internet (news.google.com)hierover.

Nee, er is nog geen echt nieuws uit Mexico-city. Lopez Obrador heeft zijn toehoorders opgeroepen om geen confrontaties aan te gaan. Eerlijk gezegd heb ik het idee dat er nog weinig opkomst is. De rede van Fox is in de avond; het is hier nu 19.45.

De grap is dat terwijl de support voor Obrador dit keer erg tegen leek te vallen (zie eerder: mediatrucs) en hij van strategie veranderde, zijn aanhangers TOCH het congres innamen en de jaarsrede van Fox wisten te voorkomen.
Al die politie en leger eenheden stonden er dus voor niets en toch brak Obrador door..! (als dat via deze verdediging was geweest en het was gelukt, dan had de laatste militaire linie wellicht het vuur geopend)

Dat kan toch niet; dat de 'hogeren' in diverse landen samenwerken? -toch wel.
Neem bijvoorbeeld de EU waarnemers bij de verkiezingen:
Eerst constateerden ze onregelmatigheden bij de verkiezingen.
Toen veranderden ze dat in "geen grote frade" of zo.
Wat een giller: Voor een verschil van 0,58% heb je dus aan een kleine fraude al genoeg om verschil te maken!
Nu lezen we in dagbladen dat de EU waarnemers helemaal geen fraude hebben geconstateerd. Drie verschillende versies van dezelfde waarnemers, dus minimaal 2x bewijs van leugens door deze waarnemers (waar de media nog een schepje bovenop doen).
O.a. Bush en de Spaanse premier die meteen Calderon feliciteerden, terwijl hij helemaal (nog steeds) niet tot president was uitgeroepen.
Vele mediamanipulaties, niet alleen in Mexico, maar ook in het nieuws dat internationaal wordt gebracht.
Zo brengt het 'betrouwbare' Reuters vervalste berichten uit, waarin vooral de lezingen en verdraaiïngen van de 'axis of Evil Calderon-Bush' naar buiten komen. En Europa is niets anders, want er staan enorme Westerse imperialistisch koloniale belangen op het spel in Mexico, ook voor Europa.

En nu dan weer een vervalst artikel in de New York Times, waarbij men gretig gebruik maakt van vervalste berichten uit Mexico, dat 'guerilla's' actief zijn in Oaxaca. Er wordt nog een schepje bovenop gedaan door te stellen dat dit PRD aanhangers zijn (mooi niet; net zoals Groen-Links aanhangers ver van de PvdA afstaan). Maar uit de foto's van deze 'geurila's' en andere gegevens blijkt duidelijk dat dit paramilitairen zijn, bedoeld om een argument te verschaffen militair in te gaan grijpen (overigens: zie ook de mooi gepoetste schoenen op een van bovenstaande foto's en de militaire rechte houdingen, ipv slungelachtige guerilla's). Zo gaat dat in Mexico en dat weten die Westerse journalisten en redacteuren heus wel. Hier doen ze dus doelbewust mee aan Nazi-propaganda methodieken a la Gübbels (hoop dat ze daarvoor ooit vervolgd gaan worden).

This kind of bogus "news", pure lying propaganda, is everywhere in the U.S. and Mexican corporate media, doing its capitalist best to prevent the changes that the bulk of the Mexican people desperately wish for.
Nancy and I went to the zocalo in Oaxaca the evening of Sept 1 to witness the mammoth gathering there following what The Popular Assembly of the People of Oaxaca (APPO in its Spanish initials) termed its Fifth Mega-March. It was all so peaceful, a Quaker would have beamed with joy, as we did.
Yes, we've had another quiet night in Oaxaca. As a matter of fact, no one has been killed by the state's hired assassins (some in uniform, others not) since 22 August at 12:50 am when Lorenzo San Pablo Cervantes, an APPO adherent, was shot in the back by police at the corner of Eucaliptos and Emilio Carranza streets in Colonia Reforma, a rather nice neighborhood in the city.
I think that by getting the word out to the international community and thereby prompting Amnesty International and other human rights advocates to speak out, the hand of the Mexican federal government has been stayed, at least temporarily, and they have told the local Oaxaca authorities to "cool it". So we have a reprieve. We must do everything possible to prevent the federal army from being used to crush this legitimate peoples' movement.

The Asamblea Popular del Pueblo de Oaxaca (APPO) and its 90 component organizations, including Section 22 of the teachers union, have announced formally that the APPO will assume the functions of government starting this week.
The APPO also announced it will make a national journey to speak to popular assemblies in other states. Delegates from Chiapas, Guerrero, Michoacán and Puebla have visited Oaxaca. Michoacan has already held three Popular Assemblies of its own.
The National Front For the Struggle for Socialism (El Frente Nacional de Lucha por el Socialismo, FNLS) made the announcement of a trip to begin on September 13 in nine states. It's not clear to me if two groups will set out, one on the 13th and one on the 16th. Any thoughts on that?
The APPO has delineated clearly the boundaries between the APPO and the PRD, AMLO, and any political party, between it and the EPR and any guerilla force. The Assembly insists it has always been up front with the public, and that seems to me its greatest strength.
The participation in the National Convention will be a discussion topic for analysis in the Popular Assembly, and in the teachers assemblies and the assemblies of each organization.
On Tuesday September 5 the APPO takes up consideration of the legal / juridical system and how to reform it.
Meanwhile, the PRD state delegates will ignore the state congress (LIX Legislatura Local) meeting on September 5 in Juchitán, “until governability returns to Oaxaca”, although the national PRD has not authorized the sit-out.
The APPO announced it will undertake its national trip starting on September 16. The APPO intends to move forward with its plans for a great Popular Assembly of the Peoples of México, involving the diverse sectors and national fronts.
It is clear that a national movement is being forged, the question being whether it will depend on Lopez Obrador as "Leader", or will take the participatory path that the Oaxaca APPO has set forth.
The practices of the APPO are not tradtional left, communist, socialist, etcetera - they are clearly based on the "town meeting" system of usos y costumbres, although there are signifiant differences. The best descriptive word so far is populist - what do you think of that term? Have you heard a different/better one? Comunalist may be better, in so far as it implies that the small community is the basic voice and in fact is autonomous in its own territory (that's in the projected constitution. ) I'm just not sure I see it, as a system, taking over in other states. "

Redelijk omvangrijke militaire groepen zijn gesignaleerd in de bergen iets ten Noorden van Oaxaca.
Zoals ik eerder melde, was ik ervan overtuigd dat daar ergens batallion 36 zich zou ophouden, omdat dit de kortste route is van Minatitlan(Veracruz) naar Oaxaca-stad.
Ze zijn zaterdag aangekomen en dat is in de buurt waar die 'geurilla's' zouden opereren. Overiges zien sommige er zelfs jonger dan 18 uit en de vraag is dan wie hun leiders/indoctrinanten zijn... Het algemene idee is dat dit geen guerilla's zijn; zelfs Justitie noemt het een propaganda-actie zonder te benoemen van wie dan.

Las autoridades del Rincón de la Sierra Juárez denunciaron que, a tres días de la supuesta aparición de un grupo guerrillero en esa región, un convoy del Ejército Mexicano incursionó en Atyotzintepec y se estableció en Yagalaxi, de ahí que se pronunciaron en contra de la militarización y el retiro inmediato de las fuerzas federal en la tierra de Benito Juárez.

Attack on Por Esto! Goes to Distrito Federal
The Office of the Attorney General, headed by Daniel Cabeza de Vaca, confirmed that fragmentation grenades were used in the attack on "The Newspaper of Dignity."
The attorney general's office is looking into the case of the attack against POR ESTO! because of the type of weapons used in the attack (fragmentation grenades), which cast doubt on the suspicious and self-serving version of Yucatan Attorney General Armando Villarreal Guerra, who claimed that those artefacts were only "noisemakers."
While the State Judicial Police, on orders from superiors, wanted nothing to do with the matter, organized crime continues to operate without problems in the state.
The "political boss" of the Yucatan mafia, Alejandro Patron Laviada ("La Vaca), who uses the structures of power to guarantee the movement of drugs and provide impunity to criminal gangs, is charged by the Specialized Office of Organized Crime Investigation (Siedo) with organized crime and drug trafficking, according to criminal case 11/2005 stemming from the preliminary investigation PGR/SIEDO/VEIDC/329/2004
Alejandro Patron is directly named in the criminal case against the ex-empress of retail drug distribution in Yucatan and Quintana Roo, Zulma Dianey Rodriguez Valle ("La Zulma"), in custody in the Social "Rehabilitation" Center of this city, run by the narco-warden, Francisco Javier "Pancho" Brito Herrera, another "distinguished" element of the mafia group.
Zulma Dianey was part of Patron Laviada's operational group just as Tizimil native Antonio Garcia Castillo ("El Huevito") was in his time. Garcia Castillo was in charge of providing drugs to diverse retail distributors in the west, south and east of Merida.
"El Huevito" Garcia provided the Colombian cocaine that Patron Laviada's group receives on the northeast coast of Yucatan, where the uncomfortable brother of "Alto Vacio" uses the the estate of his uncle, Roberto Hernandez Ramirez.
Rosa Victoria Quijano Sánchez ("La Polla"), Manuel Gómez Basto ("El Falopio"), Francisco Antonio Loret de Mola Trejo ("El Pantera"), Juan Manuel Chalé, Alberto Mukul ("El Nepo"), Rosa Pat ("La Tía"), "Don Beto" and/or "El Tío Beto," "El Abraham," among many others, received drugs through "El Huevito" and later from the group of "La Zulma."
"La Vaca" Patron, whose operator is Raul Gamboa Acereto, keeps diverse groups at his service who are in charge of the storage, distribution and sales of drugs.
One of these groups is represented by Juan Manuel "El Negro" Chale Martinez, who has been assigned troops to protect his clan's security by the corrupt commander of the Ministry of "Protection" and Roads (SPV), Carrillo Espinosa, considered the sole operator between the SPV, organized crime and drug trafficking.
"El Negro" Chale is perhaps a key piece in the criminal network headed by the "political boss," devoted not only to recruiting and hiring assassins from the underworld, but to providing protection and collecting fees on some "black drafts."
For many years, whenever POR ESTO! documented and denounced the cesspool of corruption and rot that permeates Yucatan's security forces, represented by their best student, the nefarious and cowardly director of operations, Carrillo Espinosa, Chale Martinez's group tried to "settle accounts."
However, this group is not the only one that operates with impunity in Yucatan; in the drug world there are other visible leaders who conduct business and have the capacity to do harm such as that perpetrated against POR ESTO!
At the same time there are criminal gangs in the "piracy" industry of with the capacity to hire assassins and strike at their enemies, and one of those groups is headed by Abraham Roca, Julio Catrib and other criminals who have come from abroad to commit crimes in Yucatan.
The high and medium-level commanders in the state security forces know these people, as much in the SPV as in the Judicial Police and Federal Agency of Investigation, where they pay their respective fee to wrap themselves in the protective mantel of impunity.

News update - the governor is banned from Oaxaca
In an eight and a half hour long meeting of the Asamblea Popular de Pueblo de Oaxaca (APPO) on September 3, the 193 delegates from different organizations which constitute the APPO declared the governor Ulises Ruiz Ortíz (URO) “proscrito” – banned, exiled, unwelcome – in the state of Oaxaca. The ex-governor will be replaced by a “proclamation of good government for the city of Oaxaca, a proclamation for the 570 municipalities, and a manifesto to the nation, declaring the banishment of URO from the government, and that the government will continue to be exercised from the historic center of the city of Oaxaca”.
In the following days the APPO proclaimed various regulations including ways to open the barricades on city streets during the day, closing them only at night for protection of the radio stations and antennas.
The APPO says “laws” laid down by the assembly will be binding on the rest of the state – which sure sounds to me like a state government. The forthcoming proclamations will deal (quoting from the asamblea report) with reactivating the economy, citizen security, cleanliness and beautification of the city, ways to run an urban and suburban transportation system, an announcement to attract tourism, and another for “harmonic coexistence”.
On the 15th and 16th of September caravans will leave Oaxaca bound for other states in the north, south and center of the nation, to spread the word about Oaxaca’s movement. The APPO proouncement is “For the construction in the nation of a single national movement from below.” This feeds right into the AMLO refusal to acknowledge Felipe Calderon. It looks to me like parallel governments --
On September 28 a national and international forum in solidarity with the people of Oaxaca is scheduled in an as yet unspecified location.
On October 12 at 11:00 AM a statewide popular forum will be held in the Palacio Municipal. Exactly where the vanished municipal president is or will be, has not yet been revealed. Jesus Oretega has been “missing in action” for several weeks.
People living in Oaxaca have made it known to the APPO that they feel severely inconvenienced by this revolution, not only by the loss of income, but by having to drive blocks out of their way to navigate blocked streets. Furthermore, the children are not in school and no municipal police are on the streets; there’s a curfew to discourage roving paramilitaries and ordinary thieves. Public transport is never certain, and the bus routes are regularly changed to avoid blockades.
Acknowledging the citizen inconvenience spokesperson Mateos Benatez said that the APPO was obliged to put forth the declarations in order to minimize the problems and inconvenience to society.
The “mobile police” of the APPO, if one can call them that, have been cruising the streets, aided mainly by cell phones and calls to radio stations to issue alarms. The new police force is “members of the Honorable Body of Topiles of the APPO and of the Magisterial Police of Oaxaca.” A “tope” in Mexico is a road bump placed to slow down or impede traffic, and the verb form means to impede. Any other translation tips?
The national patriotic holidays of Mexico, will be observed in the city, with the “Grito” – the cry for an uprising– from the palacio gobermental on September 15.
The Secretary for Citizen Protection, according to Mateo Benítez, has started to hire people from different parts of the state, to constitute reinforcement to the state police, amounting to some 8,000 men, with a goal of massive attack on the movement’s encampments, to dislodge them, “at the moment when the federal government intervenes.”
Today the federal election commission (Tribunal Electoral del Poder Judicial de la Federación) unanimously declared Felipe Calderón, the president elect of Mexico.
